Tuesday's HS Basketball Results

Lot of high school basketball played last night with area teams squeezing in games just before the Thanksgiving holiday. In boys hoops, New Braunfels is off to a 4-0 start to the season; the Unicorns won their second game in as many night defeating San Antonio Kennedy last night 71-55 at Unicorn Gym. A close game at halftime, New Braunfels pulled away by outscoring Kennedy 22-10 in the 3rd quarter. Kyle Hittle led the Unicorns with 17 points; New Braunfels next plays MacArthur on Monday.

The Canyon Cougars also played the second game of a back-to-back last night and defeated Floresville 69-38 at the Cougar Den. Andrew Poulter had a team high 13 points for Canyon and Sean Tollinger scored 11 as the Cougars improved their season record to 3-1; Canyon doesn’t play again until next Wednesday against Steele.

Smithson Valley’s boys lost to San Antonio Brennan last night 75-51, AC Reid led the Rangers with 19 points while Brennan, now 7-1 on the season got a game high 27 from John Azzinaro. Smithson Valley is now 2-4 and will play San Antonio Southside this Saturday at Ranger Gym. Canyon Lake remains winless on the season; the Hawks are 0-2 after losing at Stockdale last night 53-46, Matt Magness led Canyon Lake with 16 points.

In girls basketball last night, Smithson Valley got a 17-point night from Shaina Tanks is a 36-33 win over Kerrville Tivy; the Rangers are now 4-7 on the season; Canyon Lake lost for the first time this season with a 45-41 setback at Lockhart; Katie Williams led the Hawks with 17. In a late final from Monday, Canyon defeated Dripping Springs 61-48, the Cougarettes are 4-3; the New Braunfels Unicorn girls are the only area team playing today; New Braunfels hosts Hays at 12:30 this afternoon at Unicorn Gym.
