(Austin, TX) -- The Austin American Statesman reports that 24-year-old Brandon Daniel, who’s accused of fatally shooting a police officer this past April, could go on trial as soon as this coming April. Lawyers for Daniel as well as the prosecuting attorney and District Judge Brenda Kennedy met in Travis County court earlier this week to discuss a possible start date for trial although no final decision was made. Daniel is currently being at the Travis County Jail on capital murder charges after he was arrested this past April for shooting and killing Austin Police Officer Jaime Padron following a struggle on the floor of a Wal-Mart in North Austin. Daniel faces life in prison without the possibility or parole or potentially the death penalty if its sought after by the district attorney.
