Officers Taser Marion Man Twice After Wrestling Match at River Condo
(New Braunfels, TX) -- New Braunfels Police were forced to taser a man twice over the weekend after he allegedly resisted arrest and interfered with their duty as police officers.
The incident began around 4:45am Sunday at the Comal River Condominiums in the 300 block of South Gilbert. Several people reported hearing a woman screaming loudly, followed by sounds of running feet, and crying coming from one of the condos and so officers knocked on the door to check on the safety of those inside.
At first no one answered, but eventually a man cracked the door open and told the officers that they weren’t coming inside before slamming the door on an officer’s foot. At that point they shouldered their way through the door and, to their surprise, they found the man inside was completely naked.
As officers began to check the condo, the man allegedly tried to rush up behind one of the officers, who quickly turned and stiff-armed the man, stunning him briefly. They moved in to place him under arrest but he began to wrestle with them, and the scuffle went from the living room area into the kitchen where the man allegedly began to reach for a block of kitchen knives.
That’s when one of the officers hip-tossed the 6-foot 2-inch 220-pound suspect, sending him sprawling onto the floor, and officers used a taser to try to subdue him. But the man continued to wrestle, getting back on his feet briefly before being tasered a second time, this time stunning him long enough to place him in handcuffs.
At some point during the struggle a half-naked woman had come out of one of the bedrooms and officers say she admitted to screaming, crying, and running around the condo, but for now, the man only faces charges stemming from his fight with police.
29-year old Aaron Jackson (left) from Marion complained of chest pains following the altercation and so he was first taken to Christus New Braunfels Hospital, was medically cleared, and was then taken to the Comal County Jail on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer. He was released later that same day after posting a 6-thousand dollar bond.
