NBPD: Fastway Food Mart Robbed at Gunpoint for Third Time in Recent Weeks
(New Braunfels, TX) -- For the 3rd time in recent weeks, the Fastway Food Mart and gas station was held up at gunpoint, and New Braunfels Police believe it’s the same man who has committed all 3 robberies.
The latest hold-up happened early yesterday morning at the Fastway Food Mart in the 14-hundred block of East Common Street.
Just after 12:30am a white male, wearing a dark blue hooded sweater and a black mask covering his face, entered the store and threatened the clerk with a black semi-automatic handgun.
The man handed the clerk an empty blue pillow case-style bag for the clerk to fill with cash before fleeing the scene on foot. Police say there wasn’t a getaway car seen in the immediate area.
No one was hurt in the robbery, which, again, is the 3rd armed robbery at that convenience store in just the last few weeks. Two very similar hold-ups happened on Dec. 13th and Dec. 20th and police officials say that they believe the same man is responsible for all three robberies.
Those cases remain under investigation, and now the local Crimestoppers unit is offering a reward of up to 5-thousand dollars for information that leads to an arrest. But that reward is only good for the next for the next month and expires on Feb. 9th.
All calls to Crimestoppers are confidential and anonymous. Call 620-TIPS. Or call New Braunfels Police directly at 221-4100.
