(New Braunfels, TX) --  A man posing as an HEB manager tried to make off with cash from a register at the new HEB store on Hwy 46 West, only to get caught at the old HEB on Walnut Avenue, possibly getting ready to strike again.

New Braunfels Police say the man, dressed in an HEB Partners shirt, khaki pants, and sporting an HEB name badge walked into the new HEB, approached a register, identified himself as a manager, and told the female cashier that he needed to see her till.

The man then requested that the cashier hand over the larger denomination bills from the register, but she refused, and the man left the store, getting into a tan-colored Kia station wagon, which employees saw turn onto South Walnut Avenue.

Thinking that the man may try again, this time at the old HEB on Walnut near I-35, officers were sent to that location and, sure enough, found a man matching the previous description walking through the store.

21-year old Keylan Dell Shannon (above, right) was then arrested and charged with a Class B misdemeanor theft charge that was enhanced because of his previous criminal history.

Although front Hunt, Texas, Shannon is believed to have been an HEB employee in San Marcos before attempting to pose as a manager at the New Braunfels HEB store.  His bond was set at 3-thousand dollars, which he posted the next day and was released.
