Local Unemployment Rate Drops More than Half a Percent in April
(New Braunfels, TX) -- Unemployment in New Braunfels dropped more than half a percentage point in April, according to data released Friday by Workforce Solutions Alamo (the San Antonio office of the Texas Workforce Commission).
The April jobless rate for the city of New Braunfels came in at 4.8%, down 6-tenths of a percent from the 5.4% reported in March. And Comal County saw a similar drop, going from 6.3% in March to just 5.7% in April.
That means both New Braunfels and Comal County registered unemployment rates lower than the 12-county Alamo Area (which was at 6.1% in April), and lower than the state’s jobless rate of 6.9%.
The Texas Workforce Commission Chairman says continued growth across all industries led to private sector employers adding more than 12-thousand jobs last month alone.
And the local Workforce Solutions Office says they encourage anyone who is having difficulty finding a job to contact the local Career Center where there are various ways they can help put you to work, from on-the-job training opportunities to scheduled job fairs with multiple employers.
To contact the local Career Center, call 629-2010 or stop by their office in the Courtyard Plaza Shopping Center (directly across from Hobby Lobby).
