(New Braunfels, TX) -- Today is Guinness World Records Day, and a group of local students have joined forces with other groups around the globe to try to break a Guinness World Record.

Elementary school students at Klein Road Elementary in the New Braunfels ISD are participating in the 7th Annual World Sport Stacking Association's “Stack Up 2012.”

The association is made up of sport stackers from all over the world, who will be stacking pyramids of cups and then un-stacking them at lightning fast speeds, using predetermined patterns.

A total of 225 students at Klein Road Elementary will be participating in today’s stacking event, with competition times set for this morning and again this afternoon.

And the stacking and un-stacking is also combined with a variety of other fitness activities.

Dozens of other elementary schools across the state are also participating, joining an estimated 450-thousand stackers worldwide as they try to set the record for World’s Largest Sport Stacking Event.

We’ll let you know how they “stacked up.”
