Chamber's Back to School Luncheon Honors Area Teachers of the Year

(New Braunfels, TX) -- New Braunfels took time out yesterday to honor area teachers at the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Back to School Luncheon at the Seekatz Opera House.

The annual event ushers in the start of the new school year by honoring those teachers across the region that were named Teachers of the Year last year.

That includes local teachers like Jennifer Diaz and Fran McGovern of the Comal ISD who were named Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year, respectively.

In the NBISD, Audrey Barber and Belinda Garcia were given those same awards.

Lauren Cavanaugh was honored again for receiving the Communities in Schools Pacesetter of the Year award, and Cynthia Wahl, Karen Mansfield, and Kina Harris were honored again for being named teachers of the year at the New Braunfels Christian Academy.

Other teachers from the Boerne ISD, Seguin ISD, Hays ISD, Navarro ISD, and Marion ISD were also honored at yesterday’s luncheon, which featured guest speaker Dr. Robert Duron, Deputy Commissioner at the Texas Education Agency.
