(New Braunfels, TX) -- A benefit for local musician Allan Goodman, who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, tops a massive list of weekend events happening in our area this weekend.

That benefit will feature live music from Adam Hood, Seth James, Zack Walther, Stewart Mann, the Damn Quails, and other surprise artists. The event kicks off at 3 Sunday afternoon at Billy’s Ice House on Loop 337. You can log on to http://www.AGbenefit.com for more details.

Of course you can get the weekend started off right with the Friday Afternoon Club at Gruene Hall with our sister station 92.1FM. The music and happy hour begins at 4pm and goes until 7pm.

Starting today and continue through tomorrow is the Vintage Guitar and Instrument Show at the Civic and Convention Center downtown.

Tomorrow morning the NB Running Club is hosting a run through the hill country with the Gruene 10K. Call 708-2991 for more details.

Tomorrow, from 8:30am to 1pm, the New Braunfels High School Dance team is hosting their Junior Monocera dance clinic for kids 5 to 13. Cost is $30 and sign up begins at 8am.

Tomorrow morning at 9 you can head out to the North Shore United Methodist Church at Canyon Lake where Comal County Crime Prevention sheriff’s officers will be providing free etchings of Vehicle Identification Numbers. Those etchings can get you a discount on your auto insurance. Call 830-935-2171 for more details.

The Canyon Lake Blue Star Mothers are still looking for volunteers to help box up care packages to send to troops overseas. If you’re interested in helping out, the packing begins at 10am tomorrow at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Startzville.

Also tomorrow, from 11 to 2, NBU is hosting a BBQ plate sale to benefit the United Way. Plates are $6 each and will be available in the employee parking lot of their main office downtown on the Main Plaza.

If you’re still craving BBQ later in the day tomorrow, the Preserve Lake Dunlap Association is holding their 2012 Gala Fundraiser, Ski Show, and BBQ Dinner starting at 3 at the River Bend Clubhouse and Lounge. Logon to plda.org for more information.

Sunday at noon you can take the kids down to the New Braunfels Train Museum for Kids Fun Day. They’ll have train related activities for the kids, plus door prizes, and a meet and greet with some of the players from the San Antonio Scorpions soccer team. That’s at the New Braunfels Train Museum, right next to the tracks on San Antonio Street. Call 627-2447 for more details.

Sunday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 the First United Methodist Church is hosting an anti-bullying conference. That free event is aimed at educating children and parents about the dangers and risks associated with bullying. Again, that’s at First United Methodist Church downtown.
