McKenna Legacy Foundation Ready to Begin Next Round of Grants Totaling $1.7-Million

McKenna FoundationThe McKenna Legacy Foundation is getting ready to hand out their next round of grants funded by the sale of McKenna Memorial Hospital to Christus Santa Rosa, and they’re holding an informational meeting for non-profit agencies in the area this Friday, the 12th. The meeting is specifically designed for the leaders of local non-profit organizations, so they can get the information they need about applying for this next round of grants, which McKenna CEO Tim Brierty says will be made up of several kinds of grants, totaling 1.7-million dollars. Those grants include what Brierty calls ’strategic grants’ which will be handed out to agencies that focus on after-school programs, especially for middle school students, or agencies that focus on food distribution. Those will be 3 year grants handed out in the first half of this year. Then Brierty says they will also offer what they are calling ‘responsive grants’ which will be open to any non-profit agency, and the McKenna Board will eventually decide which agencies will receive funds this year, based on need. Again, the McKenna Legacy Foundation is holding a meeting this Friday the 12th, at 10am, for local non-profit agencies to learn more about these grants. For more information, call the Foundation at 606-9500.
