The McKenna Legacy Foundation is getting ready to hand out their next round of grants funded by the sale of McKenna Memorial Hospital to Christus Santa Rosa, and they’re holding an informational meeting for non-profit agencies in the area this Friday, the 12th. The meeting is specifically designed for the leaders of local non-profit organizations, so they can get the information they need about applying for this next round of grants, which McKenna CEO Tim Brierty says will be made up of several kinds of grants, totaling 1.7-million dollars.

The New Braunfels ISD School Board has their 2nd meeting in as many weeks to discuss the possibility of a bond election in the near future. Last week, the board heard about several options from district staff, including details for a 55, an 85, and a 110-million dollar bond package, with each package increasing the number of, and scope of, projects.
The New Braunfels/Comal County Crimestoppers are looking for tips in a recent home burglary case. The break-in happened Jan. 28th, in the 2-thousand block of Misty Hollow, off Wegner Road. When Comal County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, they found that someone had forced their way into the home through a door. The thief or thieves then helped themselves to sporting goods and a number of electronic devices. Crimestoppers is hoping someone saw something suspicious that night, and might be able to provide a tip that could solve the case.
A report in the San Antonio Express News details the timeline of events that led to the death of County Line BBQ restaurant owner Randy Goss. According to the Express News report, the bridge on Specht Drive, where Goss apparently drove his car into rushing runoff water, had been barricaded on the Comal County side of the county line, while Bexar County workers did not barricade their side of that same area, leaving it open for Goss to drive right into the rushing water.
